Senior Spotlight - Isabella Edwards
Our Senior Spotlight this month is Isabella Grace Edwards. Bella started dancing at Contemporary School of Dance at the age of 5. She has taken every type of class offered at the studio including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Cheer and her favorite as a child, Baton. This has made Bella our "go to" instructor for the studio because she could jump in and teach almost any class we have! Our favorite, however, is seeing Bella with her 3-4 year olds. The patience she has with basic preschool skills such as "waiting your turn, staying in your own space, lining up, catching a bubble and changing from Ballet to Tap shoes" in addition to teaching the introduction to the love of Ballet and Tap, often goes unnoticed. She is the reason our dancers of various elementary ages sing "Tendu the Tulip", "Chasse Chipmunk", and "Coupe the Cricket". Now, we want to take the time to let her know how much her years of work and persistence with these young dancers as well as her own dancing is appreciated, respected and enjoyed! Very few could do this.
Bella is the daughter of Eric and Melissa Edwards of Franklin, VA. She attends Southampton High School and Camp Community College where she will graduate with her high school diploma, her General Associates and her Associates in Business and Marketing from CCC in May of this year. Bella is involved in activities at SHS where she has served as President of her class, the National BETA club, and FBLA. She is also a part of NHS, SCA, and Student Ambassadors. While serving as a State Officer for Future Business Leaders of America, Bella has been able to travel the state and country for training, workshops, and she was even a part of the Oklahoma City Conference where she led workshops and interviewed country singer Bailey Rae. Bella is the recipient of the University Achievement Award Scholarship at UVA where she will attend this fall.
“The Contemporary School of Dance has become a second home where I have met my closest friends. I have been teaching at CSD since 2019 and it has been the best decision I’ve made. I love getting to see my girls every week and watch them grow up from year to year. We have so much fun in the studio dancing with hoops and ribbons, singing rhythm rhymes, and dancing our hearts out. The little girls I teach bring back the child in me and make the studio so nostalgic. Even after I go to school I know the studio will be waiting here for me to visit, watch summer dance camp, and cheer as loud as I can at the recital. “ - Isabella Edwards
